Airtel 1mbps plan 8gb plan

I was on 256kbps unlimited plan : 800Rs a month or 900Rs/month including taxes.

That's the best unlimited plan I could get below 1000Rs. Helpful for downloading movies/software and Linux Distro.But this plan is not you tube friendly. Most of the videos plans >256kbps speed and there are lot of jitters as expected.

I wanted to try out 1mbps plan: 800Rs with 8GB limit.

• I was aware of the bandwidth limit and avoided torrents for 1 month
• Youtube and and other video streaming sites were friendly for the 1st time :)
• Navigating and browsing through pages with lot of images was very fast. Could play sideshow of my picasa web albums from browser itself with out waiting for images to load.
• Downloaded some software Eclipse and Netbeans
• Did regular updates on my Ubuntu.
  
• It was good overal

But then, somehow I crossed the 8Gb ( Total usage was around 10GB) limit and ended up paying additional 1000Rs :(. So switched back to 256kbps. Unlimited plans works out best for me!

I am eagerly waiting for the day where I can get 1Mbps 'unlimited' for less than 1000Rs a month. But, that looks like a distant dream if we look at the recent trends in Broadband in India.

Now I have moved to Turbo 1299 unlimited plan
