Ubuntu: add applications in menu items to launcher panel/desktop

To add any menu items to the launcher panel ( by default it is the bar on top of Desktop ) or desktop, follow the simple steps:

Go to the the menu item
Right click and it show sthe option to add to desktop or the launch panel
Select the Launch panel/Desktop
Now the menu shortcuts are available in lauch bar or desktop

E.g adding Google Chrome to launcher panel from the menu:

The above screen shot is taken on Ubuntu Jaunty 9.04
This works for Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala as well.
